This book teaches children, ages 5 to 7, about empathy. It features 2 best friends, Ava and Sofia, on how they handle a problem with bullying. The story is told twice—first from Sofia's point of view, and then from Ava's, so kids can experience how their feelings change when they see things from a different perspective. I approached the cover with 2 different colors, one for each child, with intention to thread that into the interior when presenting each perspective. Illustrator John Joseph is really incredible with body language and facial expressions so we knew he would be the right fit for this book with such a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence.
